The mental side of the game

Session 1 - Mental Performance Foundations & Awareness: Athletes learned how to recognize their optimal performance state (green zone), identify when they're slipping out of it (yellow zone), and understand when they've lost control (red zone). They developed skills to track and maintain awareness of their mental state during competition.

Session 2 - Attentional Control & Focus Training: We taught athletes how to direct their focus to what matters most in the moment, using techniques like match scripts and the "WIN" (What's Important Now?) method. They practiced managing distractions and maintaining concentration through activities like focus grids and team challenges.

Session 3 - Intensity Management: Athletes learned to identify their optimal intensity level for peak performance, recognize warning signs of being too amped up or too flat, and use specific techniques to adjust their energy levels. They practiced methods like controlled breathing and mindfulness to maintain composure under pressure.

The physical side of the game

Session 1: Linear Speed/Acceleration: The athletes learned a 5-10 min routine that aids in preparing the body for quick and efficient movement while reducing the risk of injuries like ACL tears and ankle sprains (commonly plaguing female soccer players). They were taught proper acceleration/sprint form and ways to practice these techniques on their own.

Session 2: Change of Direction/Quickness: Athletes were educated on a multitude of movements and drills that target improvements in quick change of direction and lateral explosiveness.

Session 3: Plyometrics & Decision Making: Each athlete was taught proper jumping/landing mechanics to reduce injury risk and increase power. To emulate a game-like atmosphere, they participated in various competitions to incorporate decision-making while putting these new skills into practice. They were also educated on the importance of plyometric & strength training to enhance speed/quickness.
